Get rid of the stuff that’s cluttering your home to free space for spring’s new arrivals. The stuff you no longer need will be used to generate funds for disadvantaged single parent families whom Enlightened Helping Hand Foundation helps with food, clothing, household items and workshops that prepare unemployed and under-employed single parents for steady, decent jobs.

Collection Drive To Benefit Single Parent Families in Need will take place on Monday, March 11th 2013 starting at 7 am. Enlightened Helping Hand Foundation (a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization) will be on Mulholland Drive (from Beverly Hills to Woodland Hills) collecting:

•    used office equipment
•    used cell phones
•    used electronics
•    clothing and shoes
•    furniture
•    toys and books

If you’ve been a single parent or have been raised by a single parent you know that it takes a HERO to be both a parent AND a sole provider. Clean up your Mulholland Drive home AND change lives of single parent families in need!

If you prefer to drop off your donation at EHHF’s Donation Center (at 12128 Vanowen Street in N. Hollywood ), it is open daily.

If you’d like to become a contributing member or sponsor of Enlightened Helping Hand Foundation, please contact us by e-mail or call us at 818-503-7775.

On January 19th 2013 Enlightened Helping Hand Foundation welcomed new struggling single parent families. It was a warm meet and greet during which the eligibility and needs of each single parent family were evaluated.

There were snacks to keep children occupied while the adults sorted out paperwork and sipped on coffee.

The Founders, activists and volunteers of Enlightened Helping Hand Foundation worked tirelessly to ensure that no single parent family in need is deprived of assistance.

Once the eligible families were qualified a warm lunch was provided. Unemployed – and under-employed – single parents breathed a sigh of relief knowing that they’ll receive much needed assistance in the form of food, clothing and household essentials.

In February 2013 (next month) EHHF will be unveiling its new programs and the qualified attendees of this event will also be invited to participate in seminars and lectures that will empower them on their way to gainful employment and financial self-sufficiency.

Delicious food and drinks

EHHF’s first event of 2013 was a resounding success! Enlightened Helping Hand Foundation thanks McDonald’s, Noah’s Bagels and Starbucks for their generous sponsorship and great contributions: it wouldn’t be the same without you!

With the holiday season behind us, Enlightened Helping Hand Foundation is plunging into a whirlwind of activities. This coming Saturday (01/19/13) we’ll hold a meeting for 30 disadvantaged single parent families to determine the eligibility and specific needs of each. (Some of the families will benefit from our kitchen essentials and accessories give-away in late January.)

Single parents who are currently jobless or under-employed shoulder more responsibilities and face more fears than married parents in the same situation. As single parents, they’re usually also sole providers. It’s essential to elevate some of the pressure they’re under and help them get back on their feet.

We’re grateful to the sponsors of the upcoming get-together. Our thanks go to:

who have pledged to make the planned meeting warm and hospitable by providing foods and drinks.
All three are well-known and popular brands, their willingness to support our cause further highlights their positive impact on the communities they serve. (We’re certain that their generosity won’t go unnoticed!)

This is the first of a series of meetings which will help EHHF focus its efforts on particular recipients and their needs during the year.

In its “spare time”, Enlightened Helping Hand Foundation builds productive alliances, plans its next collection drive and – of course! – work on programs and events for 2013 is in the works. As a matter of fact it will be announced on our blog, next month….

Holidays, holidays and now, it’s after. We’ve all received some gift that doesn’t quite fit our expectations. Recycling the gift in our immediate circle of family and friends may backfire. Here’s an idea. Sell it on eBay AND support the mission of Enlightened Helping Hand Foundation (EHHF)!

Sell unwanted holiday gifts on eBay and donate from 10% to 100% of the final sale price with eBay Giving Works to support our work for disadvantaged single parent families.
Your listing will benefit from several unique program features that have been proven to attract more buyers and raise awareness of our cause such as the eBay Giving Works ribbon and enhanced searchability.
Plus your listings will automatically qualify for the eBay Giving Works Fee Credit Benefit and you’ll receive a tax-receipt for your donation.

How to Use eBay Giving Works
1. Click “Customize your listing”
2. Look for the “eBay Giving Works” field (Click “Add or Remove Options” if you don’t see it) in the Sell Your Item form in the “Choose how you’d like to sell your item” area
3. Choose “Select a new nonprofit”
4. In the pop-up window that appears, type “Enlightened Helping Hand Foundation” in the “Nonprofit Name or Keyword” field
5. Select Enlightened Helping Hand Foundation and a percentage (10-100%) you wish to donate to us (please note: there is a $1 minimum donation if your item sells)

It’s as simple as that! If your item sells, our organization will receive the percentage you selected to donate. It’s giving back without giving your gift back. Like I said: Re-gift holiday gifts GUILT-FREE!

Every charitable organization – the people who witness the plight of others every day! – dreams of substantial donations: a house, a car or a fat check. Such amounts can secure housing, healthcare, transportation, dental services and so much more for disadvantaged single parent families (and when I say that I’m thinking of specific persons, of familiar faces of worried parents and scared children…).

The reality is that substantial donations rarely – if ever – arrive. The giving that changes lives often comes in… pennies. Think about it, if every Internet user – or eBay user, if you prefer – were to give Enlightened Helping Hand Foundation (EHHF) just a few pennies, ALL the struggling single parents worried sick about maintaining a roof over their kids’ head and where their next meal will come from would be suddenly worry-free! They’ll able not to barely survive another day but move forward: go back to school, get a babysitter while they work… Their children would be safe and well-cared for; they’d have the same opportunities as all other kids…

True charity shouldn’t be a temporary band aid but a second chance to start clean, succeed and THRIVE!

Why the tirade? To make sure you know that we won’t reject a car or a house donation but we appreciate EVERY PENNY donated to Enlightened Helping Hand Foundation (EHHF). Those pennies add up. You don’t have to sacrifice your possessions or your comfort to be a HERO to a single parent family suffering financial hardship. Visit Enlightened Helping Hand Foundation (EHHF) on eBay Giving Works and please, PITCH IN!

EHHF Christmas 2012 Gift Giveaway took place on December 23rd 2012 in the back of our donation center at Vanowen Street in North Hollywood.

All guests were warmly greeted and no one walked away empty-handed. Struggling single parents were given warm blankets, sweaters, kitchen and hygiene products while children received – what else? – toys. Good time was had by all!

Christmas Gifts Giveaway

In addition, Enlightened Helping Hand Foundation had reports about several single parent families dealing with financial hardship in Van Nuys area. We’ve made sure that EHHF representatives delivered Christmas gifts to them as well.

Times are tough for many. Those who work the hardest – single parents! – but are currently unemployed desperately need help. EHHF knows that we didn’t solve their problems, but we know for a fact that many single parent families and their children are having (or if you’ll read it after Holidays – have had) a little break from the stress of their financial worries and a little warmer Christmas complete with gifts….

Our Christmas 2012 Gift Giveaway is over, requests for help however continue pouring in. Disadvantaged single parents are requesting money to pay rent and food for their kids’ next meal. Christmas is warm and fuzzy and EHHF shared the Spirit of Christmas, but the plight of disadvantaged single parent families continues….
